Super Mario Bros. never goes out of style, right? Super Mario Bros 3 was my favorite video game as a kid and I still believe it is the best game ever. When the Classic NES came out my youngest loved many of the games but the Mario Bros. were his go-to. Of course, Super Smash Bros. is a winner with all of my kids. Let's not even get into the 80's movie The Wizard starring Fred Savage. The Power Glove anyone? So it was time to make my kids another Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach lunch! Read below to find out how to make this school lunch for your Nintendo loving kids.
Ingredients: Red and green apples, whole wheat bread, turkey, cheese, dried mango, corn and flour tortillas, raspberries, cream cheese, blueberries, mini muffins, white chocolate chips, string cheese, green icing, food coloring, peaches.
Directions:
1. Mario and Luigi's hats are made from slices of red and green apples held together by toothpicks. The "M" and "L" on the hats are flour tortilla circles with red and green food coloring.
2. You can make the stars by cutting small star shapes out of bread, turkey, cheese, and dried mango. I used a star-shaped cutter to make it easy. The eyes are black food coloring.
3. The Princess Peach crown is corn tortillas on top with meat, cheese, and bread on the bottom. Just cut them into the crown shape and use a raspberry and blueberries for the jewels. You have to use sliced peaches for the side dish to complete the theme!
4. The mushrooms are just pieces of string cheese pushed into raspberries with black food coloring for the eyes and cream cheese for the spots. I used blueberries for the background.
5. The Koopa Shells are mini muffins covered with green icing and white chocolate chips for the spikes. If you want to do a white outline you can use white icing. I used blueberries for the background for one lunch and pink popcorn for the Princess Peach lunch.
CUUUUUUUUTE! My son will love this for his first day!
