My family are huge fans of The Pigeon Books series by Mo Willems, and you know that we love back-to-school time too. So when we found out that Mo Willems' new book, The Pigeon HAS to Go to School!, was coming out ahead of the new school year, we had to celebrate. We came up with ideas like The Pigeon cupcakes and The Pigeon lunch box notes. If you want some back-to-school ideas for your young family, then keep reading!
Cupcakes are always a fun way to celebrate so when we received The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! in the mail, this is where we started. You can make your own cupcakes and cover them with blue frosting, or just pick some up at your local store. From there, remove one side of a golden sandwich cookie and place on top, filling side up. Then top with half of a mini sandwich cookie to complete the Pigeon's eye. For the beak, slice a chewy orange colored candy in half, from corner to corner. Finish by either sticking it in the frosting or attach to the side of the cupcake with toothpicks.
No party is complete without favor boxes and of course we had to fill ours with school supplies. This time of year you can find some great deals on essential school gear such as pencils, scissors, and erasers. But that isn't all we included!
We decided that The Pigeon had so much fun at school, that he would want everyone to have a great experience. So we handmade The Pigeon lunchbox notes. These are just created out of construction paper and can be put right on top of your child's lunchbox. We just bundled them together and wrote encouraging messages in the speech bubble of each note. These lunchbox notes are an easy and fun way to let your kids know that you are thinking about them while they are at school!
This literary party was super fun, but no Mo Willems party would be complete without story time, so we brought The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! outside and Grandpa read them the book. This story can be so relatable to kids because Pigeon is somewhat nervous about going to school, but when he realizes how much fun he will have, nothing can stop him from getting on the bus. If your young ones are challenged by the idea of going to school, this story might help them to be brave and overcome their fear!
As you head into back-to-school time, make sure to pick up a copy of The Pigeon HAS to Go to School!, and maybe even throw your child an after school party to celebrate them starting a brand new school year!

I love your ideas! What type of candy did you use for the beak on the cupcakes?

When purchasing a car, I take a gander at the individual selling me the car comparably much, if not more, than the actual car. For the most part, it shows me what sort of treatment and administration history the car got. Phantom Limousine Hire
