How to Make a Star Wars The Force Awakens BB-8 Bento Lunch

Monday, November 30, 2015

There has been an awakening in my kids' lunches this morning. I know that's a cheesy way to start off this post but I had to say it. To proclaim that my family is excited for the new Star Wars The Force Awakens movie would be an understatement. We have already bought tickets and are drooling over the toys. One of our favorites is the BB-8 remote controlled droid from Hasbro. For some reason a ball that you can remotely control rolling round the room is one of the coolest things out there. Did I mention my son just got new Star Wars sheets as well? We might be obsessed and have a bit of a problem. Because of all the fun we are having I figured it was time to make my kids a Star Wars BB-8 Bento Lunch.

It was actually quite simple to make once I figured out the ingredients. So the hard part is already done for you! I also threw a First Order Stormtrooper egg in there as well. I made it all in an Easy Lunch Boxes container. After you check out the directions below, make sure and follow me on all my social media channels so you don't miss out on anything!

Ingredients
Whole wheat bread
Provolone cheese slices

Cheddar cheese slice
Dried mango
Hard boiled egg
Star Wars themed crackers
Raisins
Cream cheese
Sharpie marker

Directions
1. Use a circle cookie cutter or round glass to punch out a large circle from a slice of bread. Do the same with a smaller cutter. Slice off one side of side bread from the smaller circle to form a half circle. Place meat on top.

2. Put circle of provolone cheese on large circle. Cut half circle from other slice of provolone cheese for BB-8's head. Place on top. Cut facial and body features from slice of cheddar cheese as shown. Paste on with dabs of cream cheese and toothpick. Finish with two raisins for the last facial features. Place sandwich in main container.
3. Surround BB-8 sandwich with pieces of dried mango. Drop Star Wars themed crackers in side dish.

4. Draw First Order Stormtrooper helmet on a hard boiled egg. I used a black Sharpie marker and it was really pretty easy. Just so you know, I cannot draw at all so I am convinced most people can make this simple design! Place egg in second side container and surround with raisins.

5. Force push the lunch over to your kids and watch their faces light up!

  1. Love this idea! The Force is strong with this sandwich.

  2. These are really cool, but you probably shouldn't be using sharpie. The ink has to potential to sink through to the actual egg and I'm sure you don't want to make anyone sick. Perhaps you can use food coloring markers instead?
